Vehicle accidents happen every day. And while we can take personal measures to ensure that we aren’t responsible for a crash, we cannot control other drivers on the road.

There are approximately 6.1 million auto accidents in the United States each year, of which nearly 43,000 are fatal. Unfortunately, we can’t prevent an accident caused by another driver. Still, measures such as wearing a seatbelt, ensuring your vehicle’s safety features are up to date, and eliminating distractions while driving could save your life.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states, “Many traffic fatalities are completely preventable.” The NHTSA is asking all motorists to be cautious on the roads and try to prevent fatal accidents. “Pay attention when behind the wheel, slow down, buckle up, and never drive impaired.”

In Pennsylvania, there are about 355 crashes each day. Converting that statistic implies that there are approximately 130,000 accidents each year in the state alone. The NHTSA recently noted that Pennsylvania is expected to have an increase in traffic fatalities this year as well.
