Commonwealth Court Slaps PUC for Withholding Act 13 Money

The Commonwealth Court ruled yesterday that the PUC must pay host municipalities all money owed from the natural gas drilling/impact fee, even if the municipalities enforce anti-drilling zoning laws.  Supporting the recent Supreme Court ruling which upheld the rights of local municipalities to provide zones for fracking, the Court told the PUC that it was wrong to not pay gas drilling money owed to the communities.  The Court upheld several other provisions of Act 13 one of which limits doctors from disclosing fracking chemical trade secrets.  The decision is seen as a lose on behalf of Governor Corbett and his supporters.  The Governor has not issued any statements to date.
