The U.S. Department of Transportation has released recommended guidelines regarding distracted driving. These safety measures encourage automobile manufacturers to limit the distraction risk connected to electronic devices built into vehicles. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued these voluntary guidelines which address recommended protocols for electronic and entertainment devices that are installed in vehicles at the time of manufacture that require drivers to remove their hands from the steering wheel or take their eyes off the road.
