Critics report that the proposed bill passed by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, voted on party lines with Republican support, contains numerous pro gas drilling company provisions and will not regulate the gas drilling industry.  Concerns have been raised over environmental concerns, easy permit processes, inadequate tax revenues and other issues.  Bill proponents state that the proposed legislation strikes a balance between regulatory/tax needs and the needs of the gas drilling industry to tap into the vast Marsellus Shale gas deposits in the Commonwealth.  The Senate is debating its own bill at this time.
