The gas boom in Pennsylvania happened quickly to say the least.  Natural gas production far outpaced  expectations.   Getting the natural gas to market has become a top priority.  Gathering pipeline projects have sprung up across the state.  One such project is underway by utility UGI.  The pipeline will connect into the large Tennessee Pipeline and will traverse Northeast Pennsylvania, including Luzerne County.  As part of the project a compressor station was planned for West Wyoming Boro.  West Wyoming is a residential community north of Wilkes Barre.  Last night the pipeline plan hit a snag as UGI’s plan for the compressor station was denied under local zoning laws.  UGI is considering appealing the decision or moving the compressor station to a less populated area.
