The White House is allowing nursing home employees to dispense COVID-19 booster vaccines in order to increase COVID-19 booster shot rates in nursing homes. According to McKnight’s author, Joe Bush, the President of LeadingAge, Katie Smith Sloan, was very pleased with this announcement.

An “All- Hands-On-Deck campaign” was created in November by LeadingAge and the American Health Care Association/ National Center for Assisted Living in an effort to increase COVID-19 and flu shot rates among nursing home residents.  The program’s guidelines were submitted to Human Services. Bush Writes that the campaign calls for of the vaccine to be administered by nursing homes instead of solely relying on pharmacies.
