DLP Proudly supports Volunteers in Medicine.

The Volunteers in Medicine Clinic opened in June of 2008 with the mission of providing free quality compassionate medical and dental care to the working low-income families in our community.

Six years later, VIM has had the pleasure of hosting many volunteers and students offering their time and expertise to lend a helping hand and caring heart. The staff and volunteers have focused on the realization of needs of this low-income population and in turn expanded services beyond primary care. We now offer services at the VIM facility from chiropractors, psychologists, social workers, clinical pharmacists, registered dieticians and gynecologists.

The VIM Dental Clinic opened in January of 2011. A core group of dedicated volunteer dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants have established a very high-demand resource for those that are in pain due to serious oral hygiene issues.

VIM is truly a community-based nonprofit organization. The success of the VIM Medical and Dental Clinic is due to a core group of dedicated volunteers who have selfishly committed themselves to helping those less fortunate. The Clinic continues to operate solely through donations from our generous philanthropic community that understands how important it is to keep the residents of Luzerne County healthy, well and working.

Tonight at the Music, Memories, and Medicine 6th Annual Gala, we celebrate all those who contribute in some way to the success of VIM. We thank the volunteers who come to the Clinic on a daily basis, the specialty providers who treat the uninsured VIM patient in their offices, foundations that award VIM grant funds, individual and business donors that believe in the mission.
