Fracking is generally thought of as the drilling method that opened up the natural gas shale play throughout the United States and elsewhere.   Reports today indicate that the fracking method of drilling is being utilized in the exploration and drilling for oil.  The horizontal method of drilling has been shown to be very effective in locating and releasing oil reserves.  It is now being utilized in Texas, Oklahoma, the Dakota, Pennsylvania and anywhere oil exploration is ongoing.
