Over the past five or six years not a day or so has gone by without some type of news arising from the Marcellus Shale Natural Gas boom in Pennsylvania.  Today is no different.

The Scranton Times reports that the Keystone Landfill has been licensed to accept natural gas drilling liquid waste.  This waste is not to be confused wit fracking waste liquid.  Fracking waste liquid is still in need of special regulation disposal.  Keystone is not equipped for this type of waste.  The drilling waste Keystone will accept is primarily liquid and stone created by vertical drilling to the horizontal drilling fracking regions.  It may contain some natural chemicals but in no way does it contain the various chemicals utilized in the fracking process.

Elsewhere, Philly.com continues to report on what it calls the “scandal” in Harrisburg.  The stories relate to the total lack of health and welfare monitoring by the state and Corbett administration of potential health hazards created by fracking.  The articles site former officials and government policy related to medical testing.

Finally, the AP has a big story on the increase of earthquakes in states with fracking.  As reported on this blog previously, most earthquake activity has been minor and seems to be related to deep well fracking liquid disposal sites especially located in Ohio and Oklahoma.
