The Pennsylvania PUC has announced that it is calculating for distribution to local communities the first tax money collected under the “impact fee” laws adopted last year.  Reports indicate that about  200 million dollars may be available for communities hosting active natural gas drilling wells.  Because of the complexities of the new law the PUC isn’t sure how much ech community will receive just yet.  Communities without natural gas drill wells–such as Luzurne and Lackawanna Counties–will receive zero or minimal payments.
