When seeking relief under the Pennsylvania Workers Compensation Act, a party- an injured worker (the claimant), an employer or an insurance company- may file a Petition with the Workers Compensation Bureau. The Petition may be filed via U.S. Mail or may also be filed electronically via email. The Petition will be assigned to a Workers Compensation Judge in the locale where the claimant resides. Within 15 days after the parties recieve notice that the Petition has been assigned to a judge, the judge must give notice to the parties of the scheduling of a formal hearing which must be held within 35 days of the filing of the Petition.
