Jury Trials Suspended In Luzerne County

Date: November 20, 2020

Here at Dougherty Leventhal & Price, L.L.P., we feel an intense obligation to let the Community know what is happening in terms of the changing laws and legal landscape. Attached you will find President Judge Michael Vough’s Order from Thursday, November 19, 2020 that postpones all Jury Trials in Luzerne County through January 31, 2020. Jurors need not appear as previously directed. The Order also explains the effects upon many other functions of the Court which may also interest the community.

This is very big news to the 10 Trial Lawyers here at DLP. Throughout 2020 we have continued to push all of our clients’ cases forward. When the billion dollar insurance companies do not treat our clients fairly, we hold their feet to the fire by insisting that they show up for a Jury Trial in order for the Truth to prevail. As John Adams noted, “Representative government and Trial by Jury are the heart and lungs of liberty. Without them we have no other fortification against being ridden like horses, fleeced like sheep, worked like cattle and fed and clothed like swine and hounds.” – John Adams, 1774

We will continue to keep the Community appraised as we all fight through this pandemic together. Know that the lawyers of DLP are continually here for you and your families notwithstanding these crazy and troubling times. Please Wear a mask, Wash your hands and Watch your distance.
