Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Program (PUA) in Pennsylvania

In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Pennsylvania has instituted the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) program to provide unemployment benefits to individuals who would otherwise be ineligible for such benefits. Individuals who are eligible for PUA benefits include individuals who are self-employed (including independent contractors),  individuals who are seeking part-time employment, or who otherwise would not qualify for regular unemployment compensation or extended unemployment benefits. An individual seeking PUA benefits must also establish that they are unemployed, partially unemployed, or unable to work/unavailable to work because of certain health or economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. The PUA program provides up to 39 weeks of unemployment benefits.
