The New York Times–—today contains an excellent article on the perils of signing gas leases. In the report the Times reviewed thousands of gas leases from throughout the country. The report notes many pitfalls that can beget land owners including waste removal, water problems, automatic renewal issues, crafty language and other problems. Obviously, before signing a document as important as a gas lease individuals should consult a qualified gas lease lawyer.
