Roundup and Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

Bloomberg News is reporting today that Bayer AG is potentially proposing to pay $8 Billion to settle thousands of lawsuits pending and others on the horizon alleging that Roundup caused cancer in its users.  Recently, several tests cases have been tried to verdict resulting in multi-million dollar awards against Bayer.   The plaintiffs in each case were frequent users of Roundup and suffered catastrophic cancer diagnosis.   Many of the people who have fallen ill work in the landscaping and agricultural professions where large scale use of Roundup for weed control is prevalent.  There have also been household consumers who have been affected by the product.   If the settlement goes through a system will be developed to mediate and/or create a formula for distribution of the funds.   The sticking point right now is what to do for future cancer victims or victims with unknown damages at the present time.
