The plant will convert abundant natural gas harvested from the Marcellus Shale and Utica Shale fields of Pennsylvania into ethylene.  Ethylene is a feedstock used for petrochemical production.  Proponents of the project anticipate multiple chemical companies will locate to Pennsylvania to take advantage of the new plant.  Proponents also project thousands of jobs both during and after construction will be generated.
