Question: I work 12 hour days as a carpenter’s assistant. I spend many hours lifting lumber, carrying supplies and hammering nails. I have noticed a feeling of pins and needles in my left arm. I am left handed and this really effects my work. What can I do to stop this? Do I have a claim? A.F., Noxen, Pa.
Answer: A.F., in terms of a workers compensation/ work injury claim, if you haven’t done so already, report your symptoms to your boss or supervisor. Then get in to see a doctor. Ask the doctor to make a diagnosis of your condition and ask the doctor if the condition is a result of your work activities. If the doctor beleives that you have an injury that is work-related, then you may have a valid workers compensation claim.
Perhaps the biggest problem you are facing is that you’re probably using a right-handed hammer. YOU’RE LEFT-HANDED!!! Pick up a left-handed hammer as soon as possible and you should notice an immediate difference.
