We are currently in the prime season for summer vacationing here in NEPA. With increased traffic on the road, it is important to take proper driving safety precautions for your next summer road trip or family vacation. Triple AAA reports that “the duration between Memorial Day and Labor Day is known as the 100 deadliest days” due to skyrocketing numbers in teenage driving accidents. In order to keep your family and passengers safe on the road, Triple AAA recommends the following summer safety driving tips for drivers of all ages. First, make sure your care is properly cared for by having your battery, tires, breaks, headlights, steering, and windshield wipers checked. Second, have your car’s cooling system flushed often. Third, do not wear flip-flops when driving as this style of shoe can get stuck under your car’s pedals. Fourth, make sure to wear a good pair of polarized sunglasses because the sun can be blinding to drivers. Fifth, do not block your mirrors by piling suitcases high. Fifth, never use a cell phone behind the wheel of your car. Lastly, Triple AAA strongly recommends that drivers pack an “emergency kit” in their car containing a phone charger, flashlight, booster cables, first aid kit, wrench, windshield wiper fluid as well as food and drinks. If these precautions are taken, you will be more equipped for summertime travel on the road.
