Sepsis is when your body overacts to an infection. This is extremely severe as sepsis can turn into sepsis shock. Sepsis shock is when your organs shut down. Normal sepsis can be treated, but it must be acted on since it can damage organs as well as lower blood pressure. Sepsis is common in older people, making nursing home residents more susceptible to it. Their immune system is, therefore, weaker in these circumstances. Some of these patients also have other health problems which also compromises their chances.
