Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton, Honesdale, PA Workers Comp Lawyer: Work Injury in Pennsylvania- Where Will My Claim Be Heard?

Date: February 21, 2012

I just filed a petition for workers compensation benefits. Where will my hearing take place? Chris J., Dalton, Pa.

Petitions submitted on workers compensation claims in Pennsylvania are filed with the Workers Compensation Bureau in Harrisburg. Once the petition is received, the Petitions Section of the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation will assign the petition to a Workers Compensation Judge (WCJ) whose hearing office is located in or near the county where the injured employee resides. The parties (including the injured worker) will then receive the “Notice of Assignment” identifying the WCJ who will hear the case as well as the WCJ’s office address. Within a few weeks after the Notice of assignment is issued, the parties will receive a Notice setting forth the date and time of the first hearing.
