I was injured at work and I am receiving workers compensation benefits. I’ve had some problems getting some medical bils paid. What are my rights? Lou S. , Old Forge , Pa.
In a Pa. workers compensation case, the employer (or the employer’s insurance company) is obligated to pay medical expenses which are reasonable, necessary and related to the accepted work injury. The medical bills must be paid within 30 days of the bill and medical documentation regarding the medical treatment being received by the insurannce carrier. The carrier may challenge the bill as unreasonable and unnecessary by filing a request for utilization review within the same time frame.
